Tea Ceremony & Traditional Guzheng Music
Tuesday March 15, 7:30 pm Taoist Meditation Class, 6:30 pm
Hai-yan co-founded Lotus Leaf Tea Company to pursue her passion for educating others about the health benefits of high-quality whole leaf tea and traditional Chinese culture. She has been invited to perform traditional Chinese tea ceremonies at many CT locations. Hai-yan’s tea ceremony is followed by the rendition of a classical guzhengsong that will delight the listening audience. Guzheng is one of the most ancient and beautiful Chinese musical instruments.
About Guzheng: A guzheng (pronounced "Goo-Zheng") is a plucked string instrument that is part of the zither family. It is one of the most ancient Chinese musical instruments and is considered as one of the main chamber as well as solo instruments of Chinese traditional music. The instrumentalist mostly uses three fingers of the right hand for plucking while the left hand presses the string from the other side of the bridge. The playing creates special tonalities that captivate listeners and touch their souls with this beautiful music.
